Dieses Buch nimmt dich genau dort ab, wo eine lange Beziehung knirscht und scheppert, und zeigt, wie man sich wieder neu sortiert, wenn alles scheinbar auseinanderfällt.
Hannah Pinkman steht ziemlich unfreiwillig vor einem Neuanfang – nachdem der Alltag mit ihrem Ehemann Dan in einem kleinen, aber folgenschweren Streit explodiert ist, heißt es für sie: neu durchstarten. Weg von Routine, Langeweile und eingetretenen Pfaden. Der Clou? Ihr neuer „best match“ auf einer Dating-Seite ist alles andere als das, was man erwarten würde. Die Story bringt Humor mit einer ordentlichen Portion Herz – mal zum Schmunzeln, mal zum Nachdenken, aber immer sympathisch. Hannah ist dabei keine superperfekte Protagonistin, sondern eine Frau, deren kleine Unsicherheiten und Suche nach sich selbst authentisch rüberkommen. Polly James’ Stil liest sich locker-flockig, ohne dabei oberflächlich zu bleiben. Die Dialoge sitzen, kleine Details treffen mitten ins Herz, und man fühlt sich einfach wohl, auch wenn’s mal weh tut.
Was mir besonders gefallen hat? Die Mischung aus Witz und Ernsthaftigkeit, die das Ganze vielschichtig macht. Manchmal hätte ich mir ein paar Seiten mehr gewünscht, um die Nebenschauplätze noch ein bisschen genauer kennenzulernen. Einige Momente sind dann zu schnell vorbei, und auch wenn das Ende stimmig bleibt, bleibt ein kleiner Wunsch nach tiefergehender Tiefe. Aber hey, dafür punktet das Buch durch seine Ehrlichkeit und Charme.
Kurzum: Wer Lust auf eine charmant-chaotische Reise nach dem Beziehungsende hat, ohne sich in Kitsch oder Drama zu verlieren, ist bei Polly James genau richtig. „Would Like to Meet“ ist herzerwärmend, witzig und – ja – ehrlich. Mein Fazit: eine klare Leseempfehlung für alle, die sich nach einer Geschichte sehnen, die sowohl Wärme als auch ein Lächeln ins Herz zaubert.
